Can My 50 Inch Plasma TV Play 3D Movies
Can I watch 3d movies on my plasma TV? Will may TV Play 3D?
If you want to watch 3D movies at home but not sure is your HDTV capable to play in 3D, you should find out how old is your TV and is it capable to expose in 3D.
3D On Old Plasma, LCD or LED TV
Can any TV play 3D movies? No. Do you need a 3D TV to play 3D movies? Yes. Older HD television models are not capable of displaying 3D technology because of the specs needed to create a 3D effect.
To watch a movie in 3D, you will need to buy not only a 3D-capable display (HDTV, monitor, etc.) released in 2010 but special glasses as well.
These 3D displays usually have a higher processing power than older models as they need to display one image for each eye to create a 3D effect.
Different TV manufacturers are using different control protocols, which means that you have to use 3D glasses designed for your particular 3D TV.

3D Movie Glasses For Watching 3D Plasma TV
There are 3 kinds of 3D technology on the market currently and each one works differently:
- The most famous one is anaglyph technology (red/blue 3D movie glasses) but usually the 3D effects are not so great. This technology does not require 3D TV nor 3D Blu-ray player. But you do need red and blue 3D movie. You can read here what 3D movies are available now
- The 2nd one is polarized (or passive) technology. Remember Avatar 3D, Alice in Wonderland 3D, How To Train Your Dragon, etc. These 3D Glasses will not work in Disney Digital Theaters which use RealD 3D Glasses. Just as RealD will not work in IMAX Theaters

These are authentic 3D glasses by REAL-D used in many IMAX / Disney movies. As long as the movie you are watching is a polarized 3D digital movie, you should not have any difficulties. Also they do not work on well on red and blue 3D movies.
- The 3rd one is the most recent — active technology that is becoming the standard in terms of 3D movies watching at home. These 3D Shutter glasses enable the true viewer’s 3D experience.
Battery charged 3-D glasses, no cable connection needed. Comfortable eyewear design with optimized size, design and light weight.
How Can I Watch 3D Movies At Home
Most projectors and monitors use either passive or active technology. To play 3D movies at home you will need to either buy polarized glasses for a display using passive technology, or active shutter glasses for a display with active technology, and a 3D capable plasma TV.
Can you watch 3D on a regular HDTV read here (and scroll down a little).
All 3D-capable HDTVs released in 2010 and onwards will feature active technology, requiring you to wear active shutter glasses to watch 3D on your HDTV. When you put them on and look at the screen, the technology first blocks the left and then the right lens. It happens faster than the blink of an eye – so your eye won’t notice it but the effect achieves far more lifelike 3D images.
The active technology has been adopted by most consumer electronics firms, including LG, Samsung, Panasonic, and more.
As already said you will need to buy a 3D-capable display to get 3D at home and the 3D glasses to enjoy 3D movies.
HDTV manufacturers are promising that the next HDTV models will not require viewers to wear glasses to get a 3D effect. However, this new technology is not yet ready to be produced in mass quantity and at a price affordable enough for consumers.
3D Shutter glasses are compatible with:
* 2010 LCD C750 series
* 2010 LED C7000 (46-Inch
, 55-Inch
), C800
and C9000 series
* 2010 PDP C7000 and C8000 series
* 2010 Blu-ray Disc player (BD-C6900) / HTiB (HT-C6930W
)
