We Were Thinking About Hanging Our 50 Inch Plasma TV Over The Mantle
Will that look too redneck-ish?
Don’t hang it over the mantle – your fireplace / mantle is a feature in itself – although a TV is pretty much part of a family’s daily life these days I hate having it as the central feature of a room. Perhaps reposition a room so it can be on a side wall or somewhere – keep the mantle for a beautiful mirror, artwork, and maybe candles or decorative items?
I don’t think rednecks have plasma tv’s do they?

Not necessarily. I don’t think that is an ideal location for watching TV though. Usually i don’t like looking up to see the t.v., that gives my neck cramps….
You may put ot where you want but, read the instructions for the TV. Most state that the best viewing is with the TV 15 degrees or less up from the seating height.
They’re doing that in a lot of great room designs, now.
