Plasma Tv Wall Mount A Fire Hazard?
Would it be considered a fire hazard if i put my 42″ plasma TV on a wall mount?
My landlord stated I could not put the tv on a wall mount because it is a fire hazard. I know it would be considered a fire hazard if i run the power cord or extension cord inside the wall. But if i do not run the power cord in the wall is it still considered a fire hazard?

Just mounting on the wall is not a fire hazard. I agree it is that you LL doesn’t want to make any wall repairs. The HDMI (or any video wire) is low-voltage so you can run the wires inside a wall. The completely hide the power cord, you need to have an outlet installed behind the television. The also make these cable runners which you can paint the same color as the wall which helps to blend in.

When my tv was mounted, the installer hid the HDMI cables behind the wall but purposely left the power cord out. He said having the cord behind the wall is a fire hazard but the cables behind the wall are fine.
I called my homeowner’s insurance company and they told me it was okay to have the cables behind the wall but putting power cord behind wall would void any insurance liability.

I agree with Max. The landlord doesn’t want to repair the wall later.
