Have I Wasted My Money For A 120Hz TV

From a buyer

“I have gone through 100 different hookups with my surround sound system, and every time I check “INFO” I am getting only 60 Hz.”

Your provider’s (Dish Network) signal only supports 60 Hz but the processor on the Samsung 120Hz units will always display at their respective Hz. Even when the signal is only being transmitted at 60Hz, it will always display at 120Hz since the processor is always upconverting the signal.

Meaning that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box.
So as long as you have automotion turned on you are getting the full capability of the tv. It does not have anything to do with what signal you are getting from dish.

Samsung LN52B630 Blurring Reduction Feature

Activating the Auto Motion Plus feature will allow for judder reduction and blurring reduction, depending on what settings you activate. This will enhance your 120Hz viewing. The reason you are seeing the 60Hz in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it.

The 120Hz Auto-Motion feature on this tv should only be enabled for watching sports.
When you turn 120Hz off, it does not disable the 120Hz feature of the TV and that is always on. This just turns off the Auto-Motion feature that tries to get rid blurring. It does a good job of removing blurring since it removes the natural blurring that occurs during filming and gives you that “soap opera” effect.

It does take some time to find the right settings for your environment and input type. It’s great that once the settings are adjusted for a certain input it keeps the settings. There are so many different settings as well, which allow for a lot of flexibility to adjust for a certain device input.

The Picture Is Truly Amazing

Samsung LN52B630 HD TV has matte screen! Almost no glare issues if you have very bright viewing room with multiple windows and even a sliding glass door. The picture is truly amazing.

The default settings really do make movies look like a soap opera, which is really weird and fascinating at the same time.

From a buyer

“Easy set up, HDMI from Blu-Ray and Comcast Cable, have not made any picture adjustments whatsoever and the picture is phenomenal. My sister commented that’s it’s “3D like” and it is truly awesome! NFL football is amazing, watched Star Trek in Blu-Ray and WOW! Since we’ve had HD content from Comcast (1080i), there is no going back. There really is no comparison to standard def TV. Need the 1080 baby!! Picked up a couple more Blu-Ray discs for $10 and can’t wait to watch them. An HDTV of this quality cries out for a home theater sound system as well, but the sound is totally acceptable for a television. Value & quality, I hope to have this TV for many years to come! Weather, News & Stock widgets are cool too;get weather info, news and etc. in a corner of the display while not missing a play of your favorite sport!! Very nice!!!”

Ethernet Cable

You can attach ethernet cable and “infolink” features to your Samsung LN52B630 52-inch LCD HDTV. It is a nice feature, news stories, temperature/weather, stocks all positioned in the corners of the screen.

What Wire Will I Need To Get The Best Picture

HDMI gives you the best picture on the TV but make sure whatever component you are going to attach to Samsung LN52B630 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV has place to plug HDMI in to. Get your wiring off the internet rather than the high priced (and no more efficient) stuff sold elsewhere.

Does Wiring Make A Big Difference?

Your audio and video quality will be no better than its weakest link whether that be the unit, component or connection!
If you have AT&T Uverse receiver attached to your Samsung you’ll rather need to replace HDMI with component cables for better picture quality as something is really screwy with the HDMI connection between Samsung LN52B630 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV and AT&T Uverse receiver. HDMI causes the DVR to become non-responsive to remote or to do something crazy like fast forward when you press pause.
